AMA Atlanta

Polaris Marketing Research has had a long-standing relationship with AMA and especially our local chapter, AMA Atlanta.  How longstanding?  Well, suffice it to say that I just received my Milestone Certificate recognizing 35 years of membership!

Consumers in 2020: Changes for Marketers and Marketing Research

AMA Atlanta

The Atlanta AMA produces an annual white paper based on a roundtable discussion with their Executive Advisory Board (EAB).  In 2012, the question on the the table for these marketing leaders was "How will the consumer be different in 2020? What will they want? How will they relate to brands? And how can marketers best prepare for the changes ahead?"  You can download the entire paper here, but this blog will hit the high points of the three themes that ran through the discussion:

Made NY Resolutions

With the first quarter of the calendar year behind us, it seemed timely to explore New Year’s Resolutions and whether people who make those resolutions are continuing to work on them. So, working with our friends at ResearchNow for data collection and analysis we recently completed a survey of 1,228 online Americans.

In April of 1986, Quirk's Marketing Research Review was born.  Since then, Quirks has been the go-to resource for marketing researchers.  Whether through the magazine, the website or the Sourcebook directory, marketing researchers turn to Quirks to get information and make connections within our industry.

Quick!  When was the last time you heard the word ‘fun’ mentioned in the same sentence as ‘marketing research’?  There is very insightful, actionable and practical research being conducted but then there are other less ‘businesslike’ projects that catch your eye.

My Favorite Marketing Research LinkedIn Groups

LinkedIn
About a year ago, I wrote a blog post highlighting my favorite marketing research blogs.  Now I would like to share with you some of my favorite Marketing Research LinkedIn groups.
One of the best things about these LinkedIn groups is that many marketing research bloggers link their blog posts to the LinkedIn groups - making LinkedIn groups a great source for up-to-date marketing research thinking.
Probably one of the best groups on LinkedIn for Marketing researchers is Tom H.C. Anderson's Next Gen Marketing Research.  In fact, NGMR bills itself as "the best MR networking group on the Web!"  This is a very active LinkedIn group, with great topics and interesting comments.  (Disclosure:  Polaris Marketing Research's The Marketing Dialog blog is one of NGMR's Top Blogs.)
Other Marketing Research LinkedIn Groups you should consider include:
LinkedIn Groups vary substantially by number of members, by activity and by topics discussed.  There are many out there to choose from, but I have found these to give a good representation of important thinking on topics of key interest to marketing researchers.
Which LinkedIn Groups are your favorites?
